A companion to Unbidden, Cultivated turns from flowers growing wild to the deliberate beauty of greenhouse grown bouquets. Taken from the artist’s own source material, the abstract floral artwork considers relationships in much the same way: shaped through repeated acts of attention, care and intention. Loose gestures, tangled forms, and layered color allow beauty and mess to coexist, suggesting that what we choose to cultivate need not be perfect to be worth tending. The forms never quite take shape fully, veiling the scene in a dream like quality similar to our own memories and idealizations of romance.
