Thaw considers the gradual return of movement after a period of stillness. Warm coral washes spread across the surface while deep teal, burgundy and black gather into fluid, gestural forms. Small flashes of acidic green interrupt the softer palette, bringing an unexpected sense of vitality. Much of the painting exists between states; edges bleed and dissolve, translucent passages reveal what came before, while heavier marks remain sharply present. Rather than depicting a specific transformation, Thaw is about the feeling of one, the subtle moment when something held begins to loosen.
